Whether you’re after a cozy movie night, lively parade or local shopping, we have the perfect holiday lineup for a season that will be both merry and bright! Ready to jump into the Christmas spirit? Don’t miss the Appalachian tradition of the Santa Train, spreading joy throughout the region and rolling into town on Saturday, November 23, at 10:53 a.m.


On December 6, the much-loved Town Tree Lighting takes place at 6:30 p.m. at the Miner’s Exchange Bank, followed by a Christmas parade on December 7 at 6 p.m. sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St. Paul Castlewood. Want to enter a float? Contact Jennifer Bailey at 423-571-6130.


Need to check off your gift list? Stop by the Holiday Market at the Lyric Theater on November 23 for a day of local shopping and festive finds.


Craving carols? The spirit of the season will fill the air at the Heart of Appalachia Orchestra’s Christmas concert on December 19 at 6:30 p.m.


Are Christmas movies more your jam? Kicking off the season is the Polar Express movie fundraiser at the Lyric Theater on Saturday, November 16, with showings at noon and 7 p.m. Make December 21 a double feature fundraiser day at the Lyric Theater! Watch The Grinch at noon and catch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation at 7 p.m.
